Started by John Yoder, along with his father and brother, Noah and Paul Yoder, Gold Crown Truck & Auto Accessories is a family-owned corporation that began in 1969 as Gold Crown Campers Mfg. Gold Crown manufactured camper shells for 26 years in Atmore, Alabama, and distributed the tops nationwide. While manufacturing in Atmore, Gold Crown sold camper tops at its retail store in Pensacola, Florida.

In 1995, Noah and Paul retired, so John shut down the manufacturing plant in Atmore and became Gold Crown Truck & Auto Accessories...a retail store in Pensacola, Florida. While still focusing on camper shells and tonneau covers for trucks, Gold Crown has since expanded into retailing of all truck and auto accessories. John continues the family business 35 years later with his wife, Brenda, and their son, Scott Wynn.

While in the manufacturing business, John met Jeff Kennedy of Jeff's Truck Tops in Columbus, Georgia. Jeff was Gold Crown's strongest dealer, thus forming their friendship. With Jeff and John's combined 55 years of experience and Scott's degree in marketing from the University of Alabama, the Yoder's, Wynn, and Kennedy decided to start a chain of Gold Crown retail stores in 2002. Crestview, FL is the first choice of locations, with it's growing friendly population and it's need for a professional accessory center. Located on Hwy 85 one mile south of I-10, the 6000 sq ft building, with its 2000 sq ft showroom, is second to none on the gulf coast. The grand opening on June 12 will hopefully be the first of many more across the gulf coast and southeast. While the products have changed, the focus remains the same: to provide the best product for the consumer with the finest customer service in the industry.
